La Dolce Vita << Back
6/7 Trimmers Lane, Wexford
Daytime Italian café, restaurant, deli and wine bar
Is La Dolce Vita really the best Italian
restaurant in the country? The locals
certainly seem to think so - you need to
get there early to beat them to a table at
lunchtime. With its green, white and red
canopies, it’s easy to spot. Ligurian-born
Roberto Pons and his wife Celine keep
things simple inside, with light wooden
furniture and shelves stacked with pasta,
oils and chocolates. You can also take
away salamis, Parmesans and best of all,
the home-made tiramisu. The menu will
help you brush up on your Italian, but
you do get English descriptions. Share an
antipasto misto before your spinach and
ricotta gnocchi, or follow home-made Italian
bread with the great-value grilled fillet
of sole with salad. The wine list - Italian,
naturally - will get you in relaxed mood. Of course, not everyone has the luxury of
being free to drink a bottle of wine with
lunch, so La Dolce Vita has no fewer than
14 interesting choices by the glass. Buon
appetito!
