Farmers Markets
Farmers’ markets have made an enormous impact on the culinary landscape of Ireland. And not just for shoppers. Artisan producers are able, with very little cost, to set up their stalls to see if what they have produced will sell.
For many they are a return to the old ways of
doing things. Local people buying and selling local
produce. There is also the chance to talk to the
person who has produced what you are buying, to
undertand the complexities of what is involved in its
making.
Some markets are bigger than others, some
more regular. But throughout Ireland there is a
recognition that this is the way things should be, at
least some of the time.
